Brasseries and Bouchons of Lyon

Gastronomy is a true art of living in Lyon!

Lyon is so very famous thanks to the surrounding regional products and the know-how of its chefs. Curnonsky, a well-known culinary critic qualified the city as the "world capital of gastronomy " in 1935!

Paul Bocuse, one of the best known chefs in France, was inspired by this heritage and cultivated his know-how to become the first international renowned chef.

The word "bouchon" dates from the time where the local inns serving wine outside the meals put up a wisp of stray on their door. Their specialities: andouillette sausage, cervelle de Canut, quenelles de brochet, saucisson Lyonnais, tarte aux pralines... many recipes handed over from generation to generation, and making these traditional restaurants of Lyon so popular today.

Next to the Hotel Victoria you’ll find the legendary Brasserie Saint Georges, open since 1836. This famous gastronomical place of Lyon makes homemade choucroute, veal head, Norwegian omelettes and many more… welcoming you in an authentic setting with a 700m² ceiling.
